I'm sure it's no secret we have gotten a lot of snow here in Edison Park. I know I've been out there all day plowing the streets and alleys around the neighborhood, but having plowed streets is just the beginning to safely driving in all this snow.

Anyone who has survived a Chicago winter knows the basic driving tips such as going slow and leaving plenty of space. What you might not know is how to keep your car in tip top shape to handle all this snow.
First things first: get your car washed. I know it might sound a silly to wash your car when its so cold out but its crucial to get all that salt and dirt off. Nothing ruins a car more then rust and nothing causes rust more then salt.
Next thing to do is keep you tips properly inflated. While there's never a good time to get a flat tire, one of the worst times would be in a snow storm. I know most newer cars have tire pressure monitors that turn a light on if they run low but its a good idea to regularly check that they're all set to the right pressure, including the spare.
Another one is check your windshield washer fluid. This might not seem as important as the others but is still crucial to any winter driving. We top off every car as part of our oil change special but if its been a while its a good idea to make sure you're not going to run out.
Lastly: get your car checked out. The best thing to have when the snow comes is peace of mind. Stop by today for an oil change along with a complete inspection to ensure your car is ready for anything the Chicago winter has to offer.
